String Duo for a wedding at Leeds Castle

rPremiere String Duo were recently booked to perform for a wedding at Leeds Castle which is near Maidstone in Kent. Being quite a small wedding, the room was again too big for a wedding string quartet so a string trio or string duo were the options we advised. The couple decided to opt for the Duo as their number of guests was relatively small. We began by playing the guests in to the ceremony room which was a wonderful old room full of antiques and amazing artwork. The Bride had chosen to walk in to Pachelbel Canon in D. As usual we provided some music for the signing of the register and the traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn for the exit. After the ceremony we moved rooms (just next door!) the the Old Library to provide entertainment for the assembled guests during the drinks reception. We performed a selection of our pop covers which we have made string arrangements of. These included Paradise by Coldplay, Kiss from a Rose by Seal and more from our selection of Modern Songs for Strings.
As the guests left the room for the Wedding Breakfast (which smelt amazing!) we discreetly packed away and left after another enjoyable afternoon.

Another happy client!

We just received a lovely email form Emma, who Premiere String Duo performed for at Northbrook Park in Fanham, Surrey last week..

Hi Martin,

We just wanted to say a big thank you for such a great job at our wedding on Thursday, it was absolutely perfect and all our guests commented on how lovely the music was. Thank you so much again for making everything so easy and seamless to organise, we thought you were fantastic value for money. Thanks again

Peter and Gary’s Civil Partnership 12th June

Yesterday Premiere String Duo had the rare pleasure of a local date – 5 miles from home! Peter and Gary chose to hold their ceremony in Danson House, Danson Park. The house is a stunning 18th Century House with lawns overlooking a lake. A gazebo kept us shaded from the sun as the guests sipped champagne before moving on to their evening venue. Classical music including Pachelbel Canon in D and Bach Air on a G string were included in the ceremony but as we moved into the evening we lightened the mood with such numbers as Come Fly With Me, Waltz from Amelie and our own arrangement of Abba’s Mamma Mia for string duo. As we left it looked like a good time was going to be had by all!

Premiere Trio/Duo

We’ve had an overwhelming interest in our other ensembles – Premiere Trio and Premiere Duo. Maybe you feel that a string quartet would be too powerful a sound for your event or the space is slightly limited. For smaller events or budgets these combinations are an excellent alternative. Thanks to our research in obtaining music and our own special arrangements we have  a large repertoire for these ensembles.

The String Trio is made up of violin, viola and cello so you have the same range of sound as a string quartet but with one less instrument. The String Duo can be made up of different combinations – violin and cello, viola and cello (our favourite!) or even 2 cellos.  Imagine people’s surprise when they realise they can still walk down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D played live without engaging the full string quartet!

Here are some pictures of Martin and Rachel at Tina and Matthew’s wedding at Horsley Towers…

Tina sent us these pictures along with her testimonial..

“We just wanted to thank you for playing at our wedding at Horsley towers on 3rd April 2010.  we didn’t get chance to talk to you on the day, but the music was wonderful.”

Other clients who have chosen the smaller groups have been really happy with the results…

Thanks so much for performing at our wedding.  You and your duo partner did a fantastic job and added beautifully to what turned out to be a perfect day for Emma & me.
Loads of our guests paid you great compliments.  The word ‘outstanding’ was used more than once!  Emma says it really made the ceremony so much more special, and I agree totally. Karen Jones

Many people commented on how the music helped to make it such a fantastic day.   Linda & Jeremy
