Events for Olympics Proctor and Gamble

Premiere String Trio and Duo have started their Olympic debut in style this week with the first three events held by Proctor and Gamble’s Thank You Mum campaign. So far they have performed at the opening night along with lunches for Chinese and Japanese teams’ families and delegates. The lunches have been a tribute to parents of athletes. Vinopolis has been transformed to accommodate Athletes and their families supporting them during the Olympics. Premiere Strings have performed a varied Classical and light programme entertaining them while they enjoy lunch and a tour around the complex. Upcoming events include evening reception and dinner for the Greek. Turkish and Russian teams.

Pachelbel Canon in D

Pachelbel’s Canon in D] is the most famous piece of music by German Baroque composer Johann Pachelbel. It was originally scored for three violins and bass and paired with a gigue in the same key. Like most other works by Pachelbel and other pre-1700 composers, the Canon remained forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered only in the 20th century. Several decades after it was first published in 1919, the piece became extremely popular, and today it is frequently played at weddings and included on classical music compilations, along with other famous Baroque pieces such as Air on the G String by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Premiere String Quartet perform at Diamond Wedding Anniversary!

We were lucky enough to be invited to perform for a celebration of a wedding anniversary yesterday in Long Crendon, near Aylesbury. A marquee had been erected in which lunch was served and we performed a wide range of our classical repertoire which was a really nice opportunity to play lots of Mozart, Bach, Pachelbel, Handel and Elgar as well as Karl Jenkins’ Palladio – the “Diamond Music”! We also performed some Gershwin as well as film music including Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark theme! It was a wonderful day and we were glad that we could help add to the atmosphere of the day!

Premiere String Quartet – Wedding at Winter Barns

Saturday was spent performing for Stephen and Stacy at 2 venues. We began at a lovely church in Herne Bay, Kent before making a swift exit to return to one of our favourite venues – Winter Barns near Canterbury. This lovely old barn is a perfect venue for us, particularly with the weather we have been having recently as we can play under cover! The bride and groom chose some really nice music including Pachelbel Canon in D, Perfect Day by Lou Reed and All You Need is Love by The Beatles.

Wedding at Syon Park

Premiere String Quartet began the weekend performing for a wedding at Syon House, Syon Park which is in Brentford, Middlesex. The ceremony took place in the main house in a beautiful room before we moved on to the drinks reception outside the amazing conservatory, which apparently the Crystal Palace was based on! The weather took a turn for the worse so we moved into the cactus house, quickly followed by the guests!

String Duo season!

Premiere String Duo have been extremely busy this week! We started the marathon with a 4 hour booking for Nahid on Monday afternoon followed by a dinner to celebrate the end of a European project for Southampton University in the evening. We performed a small concert at the end of the meal including arrangements for String Duo of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, John Williams’ Theme from Schindler’s List and ending with Ode to Joy by Beethoven. The rest of the week was filled with lovely weddings for Chloe and Simon at Chilston Park in Lenham and a string duo booking for Emma at Northbrook Park, complete with the amazing peacocks!

We were joined by Louise on violin for a string trio booking to finish the week, playing for Rachel and James at The Walled Garden at Cowdray. They chose a special string arrangement of the Sinatra hit  ‘Love and Marriage’ as their exit music which was a great upbeat way to start their celebrations!
