🎻 Recently, Premiere String Quartet performed at a birthday celebration in a private home, set on a compact mezzanine with guests gathered closely around the ensemble. The atmosphere suited a fully classical programme featuring arrangements of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos No. 2, 3 & 5, quartets by Mozart and Haydn, and highlights from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Performing in smaller spaces changes the way chamber music is experienced. The detail of articulation, balance between voices and interaction between players becomes much more immediate for listeners.
