Martin Bloor - Viola

Martin studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and as a student was the recipient of the Rachel Godlee Memorial Prize for Viola as well as being awarded many prizes for chamber music performances.
Upon graduating he took up a position with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. This was followed by an appointment as Sub-Principal viola of Northern Sinfonia. During his time at the orchestra he was involved in frequent chamber music projects with Principal members of the orchestra as well as with such artists as Heinz Holliger, Thomas Zehetmair and Ruth Killius including performances in the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. He also performed as soloist with the orchestra.
Since leaving Northern Sinfonia in 2007 he has led a busy and diverse career based in London. He has played Guest Principal with orchestras including RTE Dublin, London Concert Orchestra, London Musical Arts Orchestra, Mozart Festival Orchestra, Lancashire Sinfonietta and BBC National Orchestra of Wales in venuesincluding the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and St. Martin in the Fields as well as performing with the Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. Recent solo performances have included Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.6 with Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra and performances with the Soloists of The Philharmonia.
More recently he has combined chamber music with teaching commitments and currently holds a position at Wycombe Abbey School. He has also been involved with teaching and coaching projects at Stowe School and Lancing College.
Rachel Threlfall - Cello

Rachel studied the cello with Leonard Gorokhov at the Royal College of Music and performed in master classes with Stephen Isserlis, Ralph Kirshbaum and Raphael Wallfisch.
Since graduating in 2002 Rachel has pursued a busy freelance career in London. She has worked regularly with a variety of ensembles and orchestras including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Rachel toured for several years with English Touring Opera and the Carl Rosa Opera Company and in small opera productions involving solo string sections.
As a chamber musician Rachel has performed in some of the UKs most prestigious venues including St Martin in the Fields, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St James Piccadilly, National Gallery and the music room at the V&A museum. Rachel performed the world premiere performance of Nicola Moro composition War, eight poems by Harold Pinter performed by 2 voices, five solo Cellos and Piano. She has also performed in art exhibitions including collaborating with contemporary artist Martin Creed.
As a recording artist Rachel's solo projects have included several recordings for BBC Radio, including collaborating with playwright Joanna Lawrence for Radio 3's "The Wire" and appeared as solo cello on the soundtrack to BBC Radio 4's production of Les Miserables. She has also been involved in several recording sessions for pop artists, TV adverts and computer games
As well as pursuing an active performance career Rachel has been able to balance her teaching commitments having taught cello from beginner to professional standard. She has held a teaching post at Stowe School and currently teaches the cello at Lady Margaret's School, Chelsea. She has been involved in educational projects with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia. Rachel performs on a George Crask cello.
Ivo Stankov - Violin

Ivo Stankov is one of Bulgarias leading artists of his generation and has performed extensively through the UK and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. He has performed as a soloist at all the major chamber music
venues in London, and also at the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, and Glasgow Concert Hall, to name a few. He has also taken part in the international festivals Sofia Music Weeks, Varna Summer, Flanders Festival Ghent and Milano Torino (MITO) Music Festival.
Ivo is a leader of various ensembles based in London and has collaborated with and performed along many established artists such as Mark Knopfler, Sir Cliff Richard and Johann Johansson. He combines playing with a busy teaching career, holding posts at JAGS and JASSPA, as well as giving chamber music master classes and orchestral coaching for several other schools in London.
Patrick Savage - Violin
Until 2010, Patrick Savage was principal first violin in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
Patrick was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1976 and commenced violin lessons at the age of four. After his successful debut with orchestra in Melbourne in 1989, he became a regular on Australian stages, also featuring in numerous television and radio broadcasts.
During this time in Australia, and under the tutelage of Donald Scotts at the Victorian College of the Arts, he was the recipient of many awards including a scholarship to the Tanglewood Music Center, Massachusetts, in 1993. He was nominated several times for the Channel 10 Television National Young Achiever Awards for his musical accomplishments and charity work. An Australian violin, by Graham Caldersmith, was awarded to him as first prize in a national competition and one of his bows was first prize in another.
In 1994 Patrick received a fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, which enabled him to study with Dr Andrievsky at the Royal College of Music.
He graduated from the RCM with first class honours and many accolades including the inaugural Yehudi Menuhin Award and prizes from the Countess of Munster, Emily English, Martin and Ian Fleming Trusts. As a chamber musician he was a Leverhulme Fellow at the Royal Academy of music as leader of the Archinto String Quartet.
Patrick now lives in London. He has appeared as soloist with many orchestras in the UK including the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Young Musicians' Symphony Orchestra, the RCM Symphony, the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra, the English Soloists Ensemble and the London Baroque Ensemble.
He has also appeared in the Wigmore Hall as finalist in the 1999 Young Concert Artist Trust auditions and his playing has featured on BBC Radio 2 and 3. His recitals have featured a wide and varied repertoire, frequently unaccompanied, and have included programs of the first 12 Paganini Caprices.
He was formerly leader of the Tippett String Quartet, an ensemble acclaimed by the Daily Telegraph as 'promising to make a significant contribution to the realms of chamber music'. The Tippett Quartet especially championed contemporary composers, undertaking many world premieres and appeared regularly at major venues in London and around the UK.
Patrick is also an experienced orchestral leader and principal, having led orchestras and ensembles in concerts and recording sessions around the UK and Australia.
Adam Hughes - Piano

Adam started his musical career at the age of 8 and has played both classical and jazz piano for the last 20 years.
He has performed at well over 2000 events all round Europe since the age of 13, with a broad range of highly respected musicians including Tina May, Andy Sheppard, Steve Waterman, Paul Clarvis, Guy Barker, Ian Thomas, Mark Nightingale, John Parricelli, Malcolm Creese, Dave Cliff, Tim Whitehead, Mark Lockheart and Alan Barnes amongst others.
Adam is associated with many societies and events throughout the UK including: Southampton Choral Society, Bournemouth University Music, London Jazz Festival, London's Riverfront Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Club, Trinity College of Music, Swanage Jazz Festival, Marcus Mingus Jazz Club Belgium, Litten Tree Jazz Festival. |
